Abstrakt:

When Snowden in 2013 leaked top-secret documents from the American national Intelligence Service, NSA, it sparked a worldwide outrage. A global mass surveillance machine were revealed that aggressively capture private data by unprecedented means. One method especially ignited the security community: deliberately inserting vulnerabilities in software and actively influencing standards and specifications for commercial public key technologies. We will analyse a case that is highly believed to have been affected by the NSA, dive into the math, and show how to use it to do mass surveillance in practice. If time permits, we will show how to do better! Talk is accessible for anyone.
