A common trait amongst many fractals is self-similarity. In this talk I will discuss a general framework for self-similarity and see how the theory of iterated function systems thrives.

The most basic examples of self-similar sets include the Cantor set, the Sierpinski gasket and the Koch snowflake. I will not assume much more than first year mathematics.
