Master stability functions for two-cluster synchronization on bipartite networks

Abstract:
The synchronization of networked maps and oscillators has been studied to a large extent by use of the master stability formalism. It relates the stability of the synchronized state to the spectral properties of the underlying network topology. The use of this formalism is restricted to the case of complete synchronization of identical units. In this article we extend the master stability formalism to cluster synchronization on arbitrary bipartite networks with two different types of maps or oscillators. This extension provides a first step towards a more general analytic formulation of networked cluster synchronization.
