Abstract:
I will survey basic notions of scattering theory in Hamiltonian mechanics with a particular attention to the analogies with quantum scattering theory. I will define the scattering symplectomorphism, which turns out to be the correct analogue of the scattering matrix. I will state an identity in Hamiltonian mechanics which is analogous to the Birman-Krein formula in quantum scattering theory. The talk is based on recent joint work with Vladimir Buslaev (St.Petersburg).
