Abstract:
Last summer, the LHC particle collider at CERN was heralded for exhibiting the long-sought-after Higgs boson, but what physicists really want the LHC to answer is whether nature is supersymmetric or not. In this talk I shal indicate what the appeal of supersymmetry is for a mathematician, and how this phenomenom was already present in a famous theorem of Archimedes in the 3rd century BC.
