Abstract:
Algebraic topology is the study of topological spaces using algebraic objects like groups, rings or vector spaces. In this talk I will introduce a vector space associated to a 'nice' topological space (more precisely the de Rham cohomology of a smooth manifold), calculate some simple examples and talk about its properties.

The talk should be accessible to people currently taking geometry.
