Why can't you have a pizza in your pocket?

Abstract:
In this talk I will study the confinability of an embedded manifold. A m-dimensional object is confinable in d dimensions if it is possible to smoothly deform the object without inducing any stretching such that it lies inside an arbitrarily small d-dimensional sphere.

 In other words: If you have a m-dimensional pizza how big a pizzabox do you need?

I aim to structure the talk such that everyone should be able to follow the general ideas, but I will also need to use some things from the geometry & Riemannian geometry course.
