Johannes Heiny wins "Best Paper of Young Researcher" prize

Johannes Heiny won the ”Best Paper of a Young Researcher” competition at the 10th Extreme Value Analysis Conference which took place in Delft from June 26-30, 2017. The participating young researchers, defined as PhD students and those who received a PhD degree in 2014-2017, presented their submitted papers in special sessions at the conference. Johannes’ presentation, titled “Extreme eigenvalues of sample correlation matrices”, focused on asymptotic theory for dependence modeling for high-dimensional data. The prize of 500 Euro sponsored by Springer-Verlag comes with the option of publishing the paper in the journal Extremes.
