Guest Apartments and Guest Rooms

The Department of Mathematics manages 6 guest apartments and 12 guest rooms located on the top floor of buildings 1530 (A), 1535 (B) and 1540 (R). The rooms/apartments are primarily reserved for postdocs, associate professors and professors affiliated with Aarhus University, and are not intended for PhD students.

The apartments are primarily reserved for families arriving in Aarhus from abroad.

Reservation / prices

For reservation of a guest apartment/guest room or if you have enquiries, please send an email to booking@math.au.dk

Guest apartments

  • DKK 2,625.00 for the first week (7 nights) excl. 25 % VAT
  • DKK 1,750.00 for each of the following weeks, excl. 25 % VAT

Guest rooms

  • DKK 330.00 per night the first 14 nights, excl. 25 % VAT
  • DKK 250.00 for each of the following nights, excl. 25 % VAT

Extra bed and linen

  • DKK 150.00 for each started week, excl. 25 % VAT

VAT

If your stay totals more than 29 consecutive nights you do not pay any VAT.

Payment

Guests are requested to come to the Information Office at the end of their stay and pay for the accommodation.

Please note that we only accept credit card payment (VISA and Mastercard). Payment internally within AU can only take place if you provide us with a project and activity number.
 

Check-in/Check-out

  • Check-in: From 2 pm on date of arrival
  • Check-out: the room/apartment must be vacated by 10:30

Cancellation and no arrival - guest rooms

If you fail to arrive, or if you cancel later than 12 noon two days before arrival, you will be charged for one night.

If a cancellation is made after 12 noon on a Friday, you will be charged for the first 3 nights (Fri-Mon).

Cancellation and no arrival - guest apartment

In case you want to cancel your reservation, you must inform the Guest Office (booking@math.au.dk) a minimum of 14 days before planned arrival. Otherwise you will be charged for the first week of rent.

Termination of rental period 

  • Rental periods up to 3 months: Minimum 7 days' notice. If the rental period is terminated later, you will be charged DKK 500.
  • Rental periods more than 3 months: Minimum 14 days' notice. If the rental period is terminated later, you will be charged DKK 500.

Parking

Your car must be registered via Digital Parkering if you want to use the parking areas of Aarhus University. You need an AU-ID to be able to register your car. You can register here:

If you do not have an AU-ID, please contact the Information office and receive a permit for the duration of your stay.

Facilities

  • Guest rooms have private toilet/bathroom but shared kitchen facilities (max. 5 rooms share 1 fully equipped kitchen).
    • Bed linen and towels are included in the price.
    • Daily cleaning (only on weekdays) is included in the price.
  • Guest apartments (70 - 80 m2 ) have three rooms: living room, master bedroom, spare room/office and private bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped.
    • Bed linen and towels are included in the price. You will be provided with clean linen every two weeks and clean towels once a week.
    • Guests are responsible for daily cleaning of the apartment. At the end of the stay the guest must give the apartment a thorough end-of-lease clean. A detailed guide can be found in the apartment.
    • The cleaning staff will need to be given access to the apartments at regular intervals for maintenance purposes.

NB: Please note that shampoo/soap, hairdryer etc. are not provided.

Laundry

There is a washing machine and tumble dryer on each guest floor (building 1530, 1535 and 1540). Use of washing machine and tumble dryer is free of charge, but guests must provide their own detergents.

Canteen

The canteen of the Department of Mathematics is located in the basement of building 1530 and is open on weekdays. The canteen accepts VISA cards and payment in cash.

Access keycards and entry codes

Keycards and entry codes for the rooms and apartments must be picked up from the Information Office by you or your host/contact at the University. 

If you arrive outside opening hours, please arrange for your contact at the University to pick up the keycard and code for you. Alternatively, we can leave your keycard in our keycard box located near the main entrance and send you the necessary codes in an email. For safety reasons, we do not send keycards by mail.
