Abstrakt:
The usual notion of Dirac index for Harish-Chandra modules
makes sense only for equal rank groups. We propose a more
general definition which works also in the unequal rank case,
where it yields an invariant we call twisted Dirac index. We
study the properties and applications of the twisted Dirac index.
This is joint work with Dan Barbasch and Peter Trapa.

The talk will start with introducing Dirac operators in the setting of
Harish-Chandra modules. I will define the Dirac index and show its
relation to the character of the representation. Then I will explain
the notion of twisted Dirac index, with emphasis on examples.
