Diophantine Approximation in Small Sets

Introduction

What can be said about numbers x in R whose expansion to some base b in N, b > 1, have an atypical distribution of digits? This is a fundamental question about the real numbers and the central question of the project Diophantine Approximation in Small Sets, a four year research project funded by a Sapere Aude DFF-Starting Grant awarded by the Danish Council for Independent Research. The project began on February 1, 2011.

In the pages found in the left side-bar, the background is further described, the group members introduced and our progress, publications and activities are described. Enjoy!
