We give a conditional answer to a question on level raising of even Galois representations posed by Ramakrishna in 1998. Our proof is based on the spin of prime ideals introduced by Friedlander, Iwaniec, Mazur and Rubin in 2011, and it extends the scope of this technique in multiple ways.
