Phd- and postdoc-seminar

Raphael Bennett-Tennenhaus
Friday 27 March 2026 14:30 – 15:00 Aud. D1 (1531-113)
PhD seminar

We're bringing back the Phd and postdoc seminar!! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

The plan is to meet every other Friday for a 20-30 min. talk, that's accesible to every phd-student and postdoc in the department. Afterwards those who have time to stay can enjoy drinks from the Friday bar in the stafflounge.

We're kicking the come-back off with a guest-speaker, but the following seminars will likely be by local phd-students and postdocs.

Speaker: Raphael Bennett-Tennenhaus

Title: Motivating quiver representations

Abstract: A quiver is a directed graph. One represents a quiver by equipping each arrow with a linear map. Studying these objects has become a major pursuit in algebra. Quiver representations also appear in other subjects, such as logic, geometry, number theory, topology, combinatorics, and data analysis. I will give a self-contained talk about these appearances, accessible to all :)

All Phd-students and postdocs are very encouraged to come! (staff and students are also welcome)

All the best, and see you all there!!

David and Maiken

(Future timing and format of the seminar is open to suggestions. Our goal is to find a time and frequency that works for as many people as possible.)

The monthly math Friday bar is also on this day at 16 in stafflounge, so I imagine the two events can bleed together nicely for those who choose to stay for drinks
