Some classics in scalar curvature geometry

Alessandro Carlotto (ETH Zürich)

Introductory seminar
I will introduce and motivate the problem of understanding what (closed) manifolds support metrics of positive scalar curvature. I will then present the classical result (due to Schoen-Yau) that tori do not admit any such metric, and explain how this implies the Riemannian positive mass theorem.

This seminar is aimed at students and PhD students - all are welcome.
