This is an expanded version of the Research Report No. 416 (June 2000) in which refinements of the Ludwig-Soret and Chapman-Enskog effects predicted by the equation (5.13) are displayed (Subsections 5-10 of Section 5 are a new addition). The present version also includes 16 new references that are found related to assumptions and results of the theory exposed.
