(PD1) Beyond Unitary Representations of Locally Compact Groups

Earliest starting date: 1 September 2026

Project area: Totally disconnected locally compact groups, unitary representations, geometric group theory

This postdoctoral position is dedicated to advancing research in geometric group theory, with particular emphasis on the representation theory of totally disconnected locally compact groups. The project explores whether key analytic properties known for Lie groups extend to a range of non‑Lie examples within the totally disconnected setting.

Applicants should have a solid research background in totally disconnected locally compact groups. Candidates whose expertise closely matches the goals of the project will be given priority.

(PD2) Distributivity in Algebra and Geometry

Earliest starting date: 1 October 2026

Project area: Triangulated categories, representation theory

The project examines the impact of distributivity of the lattice of thick subcategories of a triangulated category on properties of both the triangulated category and the algebraic or geometric object from which it originates. We will also explore the problem of which lattices are realizable as lattices of thick subcategories, and how their properties are reflected in the realizations.

We seek candidates with a strong background in triangulated categories, preferably with particular expertise in one or more of the following topics: representation theory, homotopy theory or algebraic geometry.
