Alexandra Otiman new Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Mathematics

Department of Mathematics, Aarhus University welcomes Alexandra Otiman as a newly appointed Tenure Track Assistant Professor from 1 February 2022.

After obtaining her PhD at the University of Bucharest, Romania, in 2017, Alexandra held positions at the Max Planck Institut für Mathematik, Bonn, at Rome Tre University and at the University of Florence.

Alexandra Otiman works in the mathematical area of differential geometry, with special interest in conformal geometry and complex manifolds. This research combines global analysis, topology and number theory in novel ways, with an emphasis on understanding behaviours of, and interactions between, different classes of non-Kähler geometries. A central aspect to her approach is a systematic study of explicit examples. This concrete approach to geometric problems is also apparent in her teaching experience, where graphical and computer representations of curves and surfaces have played an important role.

During the first three years of her appointment, Alexandra Otiman also holds an Assistant Professorship at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies under an AIAS-COFUND Fellowship.
