We discuss various recent and ongoing results with Leung on sums of Fourier coefficients of automorphic forms along certain sparse sequences, including GL_2 coefficients along binary quartic forms, GL_3 coefficients along binary cubic forms. An unexpected reentry of automorphic forms is featured in the binary quartic form result.
