August 2011
Matthias Westrich studied the effective evolution of atoms coupled to quantised fields and determined the rate at which atoms relax to their ground state. For positive temperature, he also characterised properties of (quasi-)stationary states for atoms in contact with a heat bath and driven by a monochromatic external light source.
